Tobe Hooper’s 1974 classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was based on the life of Ed Gein, Wisconsin’s most infamous serial killer. The plot begins with Sally (Marily Burns) talks her brother Franklin (Paul A. Partain) and some friends into visiting her recently vandalized grandfather’s grave. They visit their grandfather’s farmhouse where they are terrorized by the recently laid off slaughterhouse workers who have moved in next door. The Chainsaw wielding maniac Leatherface (Gunnar Hansen) who wears a mask made of human skin begins to systematically kill them one by one, leaving Sally to try to survive through the night. |
